Still no luck with the endpoint, also i would like to have the helm-chart create the service for me for the port forwarding..
f
Can you send me the custom microservice part of your values.yaml ?
d
with this setup it creates a service as a nodePort but with no selector.
f
Not part of the issue, but your key is named "imagePpullPolicy", instead of "imagePullPolicy". On what kind of system have you installed the stack ? e.g. local on k3d, k3os, ...
d
ah, thats why it says imagePull: Always in the pod.. the system is k3os i think..
f
ok, i tested yesterday on k3d, ill install a k3os stack and test it there. Also i added an issue to our tracker, to expose via LoadBalancer by default.
d
since i don't get any endpoint even with creating new services i am a little stuck
if i remove the externalPort in the chart i don't get any service at all.
f
Ill be driving to our "workshop" location tomorrow, where i can test the issue on actual hw, instead of simulating via software here. Ill let you know, once i found a fix
d
nice.. i will try a bit more here in my end.
if i look at the helmchart example you gave me earlier which is the same as in your help section it looks different from mine.
mine is on top.. if i write as the example it complains about the indentation
changed the indentation a bit and it seems to deploy but still no endpoint.
if i describe the pod it looks like the container does not have a port
now i have changed the microservice from the template i found in the repository.. i get a port now but still no endpoint
it also creates the service for it as a NodePort..
f
So, what i just did was deleting the service, that our chart automatically created. Then i manually applied this yaml:
yaml
apiVersion: v1
kind: Service
metadata:
  name: united-manufacturing-hub-cm-cmtester-service
  namespace: united-manufacturing-hub
spec:
  type: LoadBalancer
  selector:
    name: united-manufacturing-hub-cm-cmtester
  ports:
    - protocol: TCP
      port: 1180
      targetPort: 81
And i can now access it externaly:

very strange.. i have added the same service via openlens but i get no endpoint
seems to work now.. i think it was the selector.. When it was app: it did not work but with name: it seems to work.
