Because of enterprise support and scalability. With HiveMQ, you have the option of always getting enterprise support, and scale our for high availability. You don't have that with mosquitto. Since a year or two or so, there is actually a company behind mosquitto (cedalo), but it takes some time to catch up. We originally started with it, then went to VerneMQ for more scalability, and then went to HiveMQ for enterprise.
