What would be really nice to have is a local git on the server to handle all configmaps. Also hashing in the configmaps could be nice. i have not looked at how the configmaps is created with the companion, maybe it is already in there. But anyway, using annotations with sha256 you will get automatic restart of the pods when changing the configmap.
