I'm trying to connect the timescaledb in a nodered flow and getting a "Error: self signed certificate". Any suggestions?

if you want to use SSL (SSL=true), then you need to import the server SSL certificate into Node-RED
or you need to switch the security mode
sslmode
to require and not to full/strict
is node-red running on the same device as the databsase and n Kubernetes? then you can ctually disable SSL and use the DNS name like @Alex suggested

Was this ever resolved ? @piege @Jermuk ? I have tried both
united-manufacturing-hub-timescaledb-0
without SSL enabled and trying to change the security mode in the config file. When trying to save the config file I get a huge error, when trying to use dns name I get
"Error: getaddrinfo EAI_AGAIN united-manufacturing-hub-timescaledb-0"
p
😲 I don't think I managed to make that part work no.

ok, we just had that problem at a customer. 1. use the service name of timesclae, which should be simply united-manufacturing-hub 2. The nodered postgres plugin only allows to either not connect via SSL, or via full-verified SSL and it does not allow with self-signed certificates (which is what we are doing). This issue is known in the postgres plugin, but it is open since a ocuple of years now.. you can fix it by enabling it in the pg_hba section of the helm chart by allowing the factoryinsight user to connect to the database without SSL as well, e.g. by adding this
host factoryinsight factoryinsight 0.0.0.0/0 trust

@Jermuk Okay thank you, so just to verify, I would install this and then change that setting correct?
j
ah, no, it is much easier
go to the UMH helm chart and search for ph_hba (or similar)
there just add the line
maybe restart the timescaledb pod
that should be it
(if I did not do any configuration errors)
n
?
j
on the left side not on charts but on releases
ill do some screenshots
n
Okay I see that now and found where to add the line, thank you very much
j
(ill still do it for a tutorial in the future 🙂 )
hmm, still does not work, give me some time
n
Okay
Also, yours seems to have selectable options for
Upgrade Version
while mine shows none, not sure if this is because I am on 9.14 while you are on 9.15?
j
hmm, this looks weird. maybe because helm is not installed / helm repo not updated?
but first let me fix the tutorial, then i can look at your individual thing
n
Perfect, thank you
j
got it now, you need to respect the order and move it to the first or second entry
now it will work
but I also need to continue with other stuff, I can maybe help you later again
n
Okay
Just needed to add helm repo and it showed versions, thank you for your help
