Hi Diederik, commonly customers already have a middleware like SoftIng, Kepware in place and do not want to replace this or redo all of the integration work. In that case we connect to these over MQTT, OPC or whatever makes more sense. Few customers are open to connect directly to the PLCs. For this we use UMH Lite to capture the data and move it to the UMH Classic Instance. This means for the data flow: PLC -> UMH Lite running on edge device -> Firewall for subnet -> UMH Classic -> Firewall to Enterprise/Internet -> Cloud, UMH Management Console etc. One of our customers was building a similar setup themselves before working with us: edge device which is connected to the PLC with a NodeRed docker container for data collection. Edge device is used to give Machine OEM access to subnetwork for remote maintenance.
